macOS 27.2 public beta 3 is now available to Mac users in Apple’s public testing program. The release carries build 26B5101f, the same build Apple supplied to registered developers on October 5.

Apple confirms the build in its developer release feed. The company’s macOS 27.2 beta 3 notes list one resolved Xcode issue and several known problems. The rollout follows the developer beta released a day earlier.

Apple says beta 3 fixes an Xcode crash that could occur while using code completion on macOS 27.2. That is primarily useful to developers. For everyday Mac use, testers should note that connecting an external display may change the display arrangement, while a clean installation might fail to request notification permission for apps including Calendar, Maps, Find My, Home, and Weather.

What testers should check first

After updating, review System Settings under Displays if a monitor is no longer arranged correctly. Apple’s workaround for missing notification prompts is to open System Settings, choose Notifications, and manually enable the affected apps. The release notes also continue to list the Describe a Shortcut failure seen across Apple’s current beta cycle.

Enrolled users can find the update under System Settings, General, Software Update. Select the public track beside Beta Updates if necessary. Back up the Mac first because this remains prerelease software. Our earlier coverage explains what arrived in macOS 27.2 beta 2, while Apple’s beta FAQ explains enrollment and recovery considerations. Feedback Assistant is built into the beta for reporting problems with hardware, apps, or system behavior.
