Apple released macOS 27.2 Golden Gate beta 2 to registered developers on September 21, 2026. The update carries build 26B5091g and replaces the first beta, build 26B5086k, released five days earlier.
Apple lists the date, version, and build on its official developer releases page. The company also links to its macOS 27.2 developer notes, but it has not published a separate list of consumer-facing changes specific to beta 2.
That means claims about faster performance, longer battery life, or fixes for particular apps would be premature. The new build is a testing update, and its practical differences will become clearer only after Apple updates the notes or developers compare it with beta 1.

How developers can install beta 2
- Back up the Mac and keep it connected to power.
- Open System Settings, then select General and Software Update.
- Click the information button next to Beta Updates.
- Select the macOS 27 Developer Beta channel, return to Software Update, and install the available build.
Our report on macOS 27.2 beta 1 covers the known notification-permission and Shortcuts issues Apple documented at the start of this cycle. Apple has not said those issues are resolved in beta 2, so testers should not assume they are fixed.
Anyone new to the testing program can follow our macOS 27 installation guide. Beta software can affect app compatibility and data, so a secondary Mac or separate test volume remains the safer choice.
After installation, developers should verify the build number in System Settings under General and About. They should also retest essential apps, extensions, external displays, networking, and backup workflows, then send reproducible problems to Apple through Feedback Assistant with the full build number included.
Most users should stay on the public macOS release. Build 26B5091g is intended for development and compatibility testing, and Apple has not announced when macOS 27.2 will reach everyone.
