WhatsApp has started rolling out a Liquid Glass redesign for its iPhone video player to selected beta testers. The change updates the playback progress bar with a translucent appearance that more closely matches Apple’s current iOS design language.

WABetaInfo reports that the interface is appearing for some users running WhatsApp beta for iOS version 26.39.10.70 through TestFlight. The rollout is account-based, so installing the compatible build does not guarantee immediate access.

The updated progress control uses a glass-like layer over the video instead of the older solid treatment. Playback behavior remains familiar, with the visual change intended to make the player consistent with navigation bars and controls WhatsApp has already refreshed elsewhere.

The design has moved from development to testing

The Mac Observer previously reported that WhatsApp was developing Liquid Glass controls for the video player and drawing editor. At that stage, the work was not available to testers. The latest build marks a material step forward because people in the beta program can now see the video-player treatment.

WhatsApp has not announced when the revised player will reach the App Store version or every beta account. Meta often enables interface changes gradually while monitoring reliability and feedback.

Users should avoid deleting or reinstalling WhatsApp to force the feature because that does not guarantee access and can create backup complications. Keeping the beta updated is the safest way to receive it when the server-side rollout reaches an account.

The stable App Store release may arrive later, and WhatsApp has not committed to a public rollout date.
