The LG Indoor Cam Plug-In is the cheapest camera in Apple Home Collection at $199.95 (U.S.) in Essence White, sold in the U.S., Canada, and the UK, according to Apple, which says Home Collection availability begins in December. LG’s own release adds the spec Apple’s announcement leaves out: “A wide 160° field of view captures more of the room in a single frame.”

The camera’s other headline features are on Apple’s store listing: people and pet detection, three mounting options, USB-C power, and a tilt you can control by hand. For the full camera lineup and storage plans, see our Home Collection cameras story.

A 160-degree view of the room
LG describes the camera’s view as “A wide 160° field of view captures more of the room in a single frame.” Apple’s store page puts it more generally, saying you can “Capture 2.5K video while the wide-angle view helps you see more of what’s happening inside your home.”

Low-light color night vision “helps maintain color and detail after dark,” according to Apple, and when it gets too dark for color, “infrared (IR) night vision lets you continue to see events in your home.”
People and pet detection
Apple’s listing says you can “Pair with your Apple HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini 2, or Apple TV 4K to automatically detect people and pets.” You can also label friends and family members using your Photos library to identify specific people.
That detection runs through your home hub, so a hub is not optional. LG’s release says use of its new products “requires an Apple home hub, like HomePod, HomePod mini, Apple TV 4K or Apple HomeView.”
Other features on the listing include two-way talk, started from the live-feed microphone button, and built-in storage that “keeps cameras recording even if Wi-Fi goes down.”
The privacy tilt
The Indoor Cam’s most distinctive feature is physical. Apple’s press release says the camera “automatically tilts upward and downward to adjust the view when users check in on the home, and tilts back down to stop monitoring as soon as the first member of the household returns.”
You can trigger the tilt “automatically through the Home app or manually when you press the button on top of the camera’s support column,” according to Apple’s store page. LG calls this “a privacy tilt mechanism and physical controls” that provide “a visible and intuitive way to control monitoring when it is not needed.”
It also works in scenes. Apple’s example is a single “Good Morning” scene that can adjust the thermostat, “tilt an indoor camera down while a user is getting ready, and start music on HomePod.”
Mounting and power
Apple says the camera’s “Flexible placement supports tabletop, wall, and ceiling installation.” It is powered over USB-C, and the box includes a USB-C cable, two screws, two anchors, and a manual.
Plan placement around two things. The camera needs to reach USB-C power, and if you want to use the manual tilt, the button on top of the support column needs to stay within reach.
Setup and requirements
- Setup uses a single tap with iPhone, which requires an iPhone running the latest operating system software for NFC pairing.
- People and pet detection requires a home hub: HomeView, HomePod, HomePod mini 2, or Apple TV 4K, per the listing.
- The camera supports Thread and 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi.
Apple’s store page currently lists the camera as “Coming later.” Full details are in Apple’s Apple Home Collection press release.
