Where HomeView is sold, and why not in the EU

Apple’s HomeView announcement lists pre-orders in Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the UK and the U.S. from October 13. Singapore pre-orders opened on Thursday, October 15, at 9 a.m. SGT. In South Africa, HomeView is sold through Apple Authorized Resellers, with availability beginning Friday, November 13. Apple’s South African online store does not list it.

Apple says “Apple HomeView is not available for sale in the European Union, as Siri AI is currently unavailable in iOS in the EU.” Our HomeView EU story has the full statement.

Siri AI on HomeView works in English in the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. Those are the same eight countries where HomeView is sold. For Canada, Apple’s store page adds that “Canadian French language support will be offered later as a free software update.”

Apple TV 4K outside the Siri AI countries

Apple TV 4K sells well beyond those eight countries. Apple says Siri AI is available at launch on Apple TV 4K in English in the same eight. Its store pages in Japan, South Korea, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Taiwan, the UAE and Mexico do not mention Siri AI at all. The Hong Kong page is the exception: it promotes Siri AI and says “Siri AI is rolling out in English.”

In euro countries, Germany, France and Spain list Apple TV 4K at 349,00 €, and Italy at € 349,00. The German price includes 19 percent VAT, according to Apple’s footnotes.

Purchase limits, instalments and dates

Some stores add conditions:

  • Singapore: Apple limits buyers to 2 Apple HomeView and 2 Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted) per customer. The Apple TV 4K page says “Check back later for availability” and sets a limit of 6 Apple TV devices per customer.
  • Hong Kong and Taiwan: a limit of 6 Apple TV devices per customer.
  • India: both devices show EMI pricing from ₹3,620 a month. Apple India says its listed prices are the Maximum Retail Price, inclusive of all taxes.
  • Mexico: the Apple TV 4K page shows MX$6,299 or 18 interest-free monthly payments from MX$349.94, but asks buyers to check back later for availability.
  • UAE: AED 1,199, inclusive of 5 percent VAT.
  • New Zealand and Singapore: prices include GST.

Apart from Singapore and Mexico, every store we checked lists Apple TV 4K availability from November 13. The box includes Apple TV 4K (4th generation), the Siri Remote (4th generation) and a power cord, and Apple notes that HDMI and USB-C cables are sold separately.

How the prices compare

Converting currencies only gives a rough guide, since many of these prices include VAT or GST. Still, the pattern is clear: Apple prices HomeView and Apple TV 4K as a pair, so the two products cost the same wherever both are sold.
