The update follows tvOS 27, which introduced Apple Music AutoMix, Hi-Res Lossless audio, and a redesigned Podcasts app. This release focuses on everyday improvements, particularly how users personalize their Apple TV, join video calls, and locate missing accessories.

FaceTime Gets New Calling and Accessibility Features
tvOS 27.2 makes FaceTime more convenient for people who use their Apple TV for video calls. FaceTime Links simplify joining conversations directly from the television, reducing the steps required to connect with others.
Apple has also expanded accessibility support, allowing third-party sign language interpretation and captioning services to participate in FaceTime calls. These improvements make conversations more accessible for people who rely on visual communication.
Screen Savers Get More Customization Options
Apple TV owners can now use a new Shuffle option that automatically cycles through different screen saver categories, including Aerials, Portraits, Memories & Slideshows, and Snoopy.
Additionally, users can select specific photos from their iPhone for compatible screen savers without sharing their entire Photos library with Apple TV. This provides more control over which personal images appear on the television.
Find My Support Arrives for Siri Remote
Another useful addition is expanded Find My integration for the Siri Remote. With tvOS 27.2, users can locate a second-generation or newer Siri Remote using their iPhone.

HomePod Surround Sound and Siri AI

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K, scheduled for November 13, supports a four-speaker HomePod surround sound arrangement using compatible HomePod models. This setup uses two front and two rear speakers.
Meanwhile, Apple’s upgraded Siri AI experience is planned for supported Apple TV 4K models, although its full functionality was not available at the initial tvOS 27.2 release.
Security Fixes and Compatible Devices
Apple has addressed multiple security vulnerabilities involving account privacy, app permissions, Bluetooth, audio processing, and video decoding.

Follow these steps to install the latest update:
- Open Settings on your Apple TV.
- Select System.
- Choose Software Updates.
- Select Update Software.
- Choose Download and Install if tvOS 27.2 is available.
Keep your Apple TV connected to power and the internet throughout the installation.
