1. Siri AI Gets Better Memory and More Languages
One of the biggest additions in macOS 27.2 is improved Siri AI functionality. Apple says Siri can now retain useful context from previous interactions, allowing users to continue conversations without repeating the same information.
Siri can also use a wider range of personal context to provide more relevant answers and complete requests involving information across supported apps.
Additionally, Siri AI now supports five more languages:
- French
- Japanese
- Korean
- Portuguese
- Spanish
These join English, which was available when macOS 27 launched. Availability still depends on supported devices and regions.
2. Redesigned Volume and Brightness Controls
Apple has updated the on-screen volume and brightness indicators, replacing the continuous bars with segmented sliders that make individual adjustment levels easier to identify.
As we previously covered, the redesigned interface first appeared during macOS 27.2 beta testing.
The new indicators also feature larger icons and appear beneath their corresponding menu bar controls when available. However, the sliders inside Control Center remain unchanged.
3. Messages Adds Contextual Suggestions
The Messages app now provides suggestions based on the context of conversations, helping users take actions without manually switching between several apps.
For example, when someone discusses an upcoming meeting or dinner, Messages can suggest creating an event in Calendar or adding a related task to Reminders.
4. Apple Music Gets a Refreshed Icon
Apple has introduced a black-and-white icon for the Music app, replacing its familiar red-and-white appearance.
The visual change follows Apple’s broader refresh of the Apple Music brand and gives the macOS app a different appearance in the Dock and application library.
5. Shortcuts and Additional Improvements
macOS 27.2 also introduces smaller improvements to the Shortcuts app. Users can now configure the editor’s window layout using the Show Actions and Show Describe a Shortcut menu options.
The update also expands web-based information support for the Use Model action in additional languages.
Apple has included several fixes for system components and developer tools, including an issue that could cause Xcode to crash while using code completion.
