MacBook Pro deals: M5 Max is $610 off and M5 Pro drops to $2,299 after the touchscreen launch

MacBook Pro running Adobe After Effects

Apple’s touchscreen MacBook Pro starts at $2,899. If you don’t need touch or OLED, the MacBook Pro models it sits beside just got cheaper on Amazon. The biggest cut takes $610 off a 16-inch M5 Max.

We checked every price below on Amazon on October 28, 2026, the day Apple announced the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR Display. Prices on Amazon change often, so check the total before you buy.

The 16-inch M5 Max at $3,789 is the biggest cut, but only a couple are left

Amazon lists this 16-inch MacBook Pro at $4,399, and it’s down to $3,789. That’s $610 off. You get M5 Max with an 18-core CPU and 32-core GPU, 36GB of memory and a 2TB SSD. Adorama sells it through Amazon, and it’s an Apple authorized reseller. When we checked, Amazon showed only two left.

One catch. The 32-core M5 Max comes with 36GB of memory, and you can’t change that. If you run big local AI models or heavy 3D work, the 40-core version with 48GB or more is the one to want, and it isn’t on sale.

The 14-inch M5 Pro with 2TB is $350 off, and Amazon sells it directly

At $2,649, the 14-inch M5 Pro with 24GB and 2TB costs $250 less than the cheapest touchscreen MacBook Pro. It costs $350 less than its own list price. If you shoot video or keep big photo libraries on your laptop, that extra terabyte is worth more to you than touch.

Should you skip the touchscreen MacBook Pro and buy one of these?

The new model adds a tandem OLED touchscreen at up to 2000 nits, a Dynamic Island and a lighter body. It also uses the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips as these models. So if you don’t need touch, these deals get you the same speed for hundreds less.

Buy the new one if you want touch, plan to work outdoors a lot, or care about the brighter OLED display. Read our PROLED vs M6 vs M5 Pro comparison if you’re still on the fence.

The 14-inch M5 deal clashes with Apple’s new $1,999 M6 model

Amazon has the 14-inch M5 MacBook Pro with 16GB and 1TB at $1,839, down from $1,999. Apple just replaced that model with the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 at the same $1,999 list price, which ships November 6. So $160 off an older chip is a weak deal. We’d pay the extra and get the M6.

Check the seller and configuration before you check out

Amazon lists many MacBook Pro variants on one page. Make sure the chip, memory, storage and color match the deal you want before you buy, since switching options can change the price. Check that the seller is Amazon.com or Adorama, not a used or renewed listing. AppleCare+ isn’t included in any of these prices.
