Amazon has AirPods Max 2 for $449. Apple sells them for $549. That’s $100 off headphones Apple only released in March.
This isn’t a third-party seller or a renewed pair. Amazon.com ships and sells them, and they’re new. We checked the listing on October 28, 2026, and both midnight and starlight showed $449 and in stock.

AirPods Max 2 cost $549 at Apple, and Amazon is selling them new for $449
Apple launched AirPods Max 2 on March 16 at $549, with orders starting March 25. Apple’s store still charges $549 today, in all five colors: midnight, starlight, orange, purple and blue.
Amazon’s $449 price cuts 18 percent. Amazon gives you a 15-day return window, and you can add AppleCare+ at checkout for $59.
What changed in AirPods Max 2, and what Apple left exactly the same
The big change is inside. Apple swapped in the H2 chip, the same one in AirPods Pro, and says noise cancellation is up to 1.5x more effective than the original AirPods Max. You also get features the first model never had:
- Adaptive Audio, which blends noise cancellation and Transparency based on your surroundings
- Conversation Awareness, which lowers your music when you start talking
- Voice Isolation for clearer calls
- Live Translation, with an Apple Intelligence iPhone on iOS 26 or later
- 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio over the included USB-C cable
- Up to 20 hours of listening time on a charge
The outside barely changed. Our teardown coverage showed the same design, same aluminum ear cups and same Smart Case. If you hated the case on the first model, you’ll hate this one too.
Pick AirPods Max 2 at $449 or AirPods Pro 3 at $199 based on where you listen
Amazon also has AirPods Pro 3 for $199 right now, down from $249. That’s a smaller discount than we saw on Prime Day, when they hit $179.
Get the Max if you listen at a desk, on a plane or on a long train ride and want big over-ear sound. Get the Pro 3 if you work out, commute on foot or want something in your pocket. The Pro 3 also does heart rate tracking and hearing health features the Max doesn’t have.
The $449 price is on Amazon’s own listing, so check the seller and color before you buy
We saw $449 on midnight and starlight. Amazon can price colors differently, so check the color you want. Make sure the seller says Amazon.com, not Amazon Resale, which sells used units. Prices on Amazon move without notice, so confirm the total before you check out.
