Video creators editing on their phones have a major new update to look forward to. Adobe has officially partnered with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to bring popular, licensed music directly to the Premiere mobile app. This deal allows users to easily add well-known songs to their personal video projects without leaving the editor. By integrating these massive music libraries, mobile creators now have much better audio options to make their social media posts stand out from the crowd right from the start.

New tools allow users to edit videos with licensed music

When the update rolls out, it will introduce several practical new ways to build content on your phone. Adobe has designed these tools to help everyday creators match their video cuts to the beat of popular music right away. Rather than adding a track at the very end of the editing process, you can now build the visual story around the song itself.

Here is what you will be able to do once the new features are available:

  • Add up to 60 seconds of a licensed song from Universal or Warner directly into your video timeline.
  • Jump-start your editing process using new music-powered templates that pair customizable video layouts with popular tracks.
  • Export your finished videos natively from the Premiere mobile app and post them straight to licensed social platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.
  • Use the included music library freely for personal, non-commercial projects without worrying about downloading separate audio files or searching for background music.

Missing details remain as users wait for the official launch

While the addition of major-label music is a huge win for everyday creators, there are still a few missing pieces. Adobe has only stated that the new music capabilities are coming soon, without providing a specific launch date for when the update will hit the app stores.

Additionally, the official announcement did not clarify how many songs will actually be available to use. It is currently unknown if the agreement covers the full, massive music catalogs of both record labels or just a curated selection of hits. It is also worth noting that Sony Music is not part of this specific partnership, meaning tracks from their signed artists will not be included in this rollout.

Despite those missing details, having built-in access to Universal and Warner tracks gives mobile video editors an incredible library of music to work with. Once it officially launches, this update will remove a lot of the friction from mobile editing, making it simple to produce fun, music-driven social media clips.
