Last Seen Episode 3 will continue Ian Ridley’s search on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, but Apple has not confirmed that he is about to reach Maggie. The episode is titled “The Lie,” and its official description says a closer examination of the call turns Ian’s world inside out.
That wording suggests the next chapter will question the evidence that made Ian connect teenage Sarah Reid with his daughter. Episode 2 strengthened that possibility, although the series has not yet provided independent proof that Sarah and Maggie are the same person.

Can Ian reach Maggie in Episode 3?

Apple’s official program page identifies Chloe Jean Lourdes’ character as Sarah Reid, with Brendan Cowell and Maxine Peake playing Henry and Jenna Reid. It does not identify Sarah as Maggie, even though Ian believes the caller could be his missing daughter.
Episode 2 gives that theory more weight through Sarah’s apparent connection to Maggie’s childhood. Our Episode 2 ending explanation covers why Ian takes the clues seriously. However, the title “The Lie” signals that at least one account may not survive closer inspection.
The lie could concern Sarah’s upbringing, the call, or information given to Ian during the original investigation. Apple has not named the deception, the kidnapper or the person who made the call. Therefore, a specific prediction about Ian reaching Maggie would go beyond the official preview.
The call remains the key piece of evidence
The series began with a call capable of overturning everything Ian believed about Maggie’s disappearance. The Episode 1 recap explains why he immediately returned to the case, while Episode 2 shifted more attention toward Sarah and the Reid family.
Episode 3 should determine whether the call produces a reliable path to Sarah or exposes another layer of manipulation. Ian’s urgency may also create danger because his desire to recover Maggie makes him more likely to act before every clue is verified.
