Henry turns grief into Maggie’s abduction
The flashback shows Donald and Jenna arriving at the religious compound, Jenna becoming close to Henry, and the couple later losing their daughter Sarah in an accident. Henry sees Maggie with Ian and takes her home to fill the absence their grief created.
That sequence connects the immediate danger to an older wound. It is not simply a surprise appearance or a convenient clue. The returning information changes what the central characters believe they are trying to protect.
The scene is also careful about point of view. Viewers receive enough information to understand the development, but the people inside the story do not all possess the same facts. That imbalance explains why the next decision can still produce conflict after the reveal.
Jenna finally gives Maggie a path out
