Ted Lasso has only just returned for season 4, but Apple TV is already giving fans a strong reason to expect the story to continue beyond the current run. Apple Services chief Eddy Cue has now suggested that the series still has plenty of room to grow, even though Apple has not officially announced season 5.

ScreenRant asked Cue about the possibility of another season during a red carpet interview, and he said he hopes the show continues because there are still “plenty of stories to go on.” His comments do not confirm a renewal, but they show that Apple remains interested in keeping one of its biggest comedy series running.

That also lines up with earlier reports that cast members signed deals covering three seasons, which would fit with talk of a new three-season story arc beginning with season 4. Jason Sudeikis has also spoken about returning to the writers’ room to work through ideas for what comes next.

Season 4 moves the story in a fresh direction while bringing back familiar faces including Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. New cast members include Tanya Reynolds, Abbie Hern, Faye Marsay, Jude Mack, Rex Hayes and Aisling Sharkey.

The current season is also fueling speculation that Apple and the creative team are planning another longer arc around AFC Richmond and its expanding storylines.

Apple has not confirmed Ted Lasso season 5 yet, so fans will still have to wait for an official announcement. However, Cue’s comments make it clear that Apple sees more life in the series beyond season 4, especially if viewers continue to return each week.

Ted Lasso season 4 streams new episodes every Wednesday on Apple TV through October 7.
