Moviegoers will soon have a new way to identify the best screens for blockbuster films. During its presentation at CinemaCon, The Walt Disney Studios announced Infinity Vision, a brand new certification program created for premium large format theaters. Instead of building new proprietary projectors from scratch, the studio wants to certify existing auditoriums that meet strict technical benchmarks. This new badge aims to help fans easily find the biggest screens, sharpest laser projection, and most immersive sound available for major releases.

The new theater certification launches with upcoming Marvel blockbusters

The fresh certification program is rolling out across hundreds of screens worldwide, with dozens of domestic locations already lined up to take part. Rather than constructing physical theaters, the company is partnering with global exhibitors to stamp approved auditoriums with the new label so people know where to find top-tier picture and sound quality.

This new standard kicks off with a special theatrical re-release of Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Endgame. Bringing the massive superhero epic back to big screens gives fans a chance to experience the updated format before the end of the year.

Following the summer re-release, the certification will expand to major tentpole releases like Avengers: Doomsday. By setting up its own stamp of approval, the studio hopes to guarantee that its biggest event films have access to high-end presentation spaces, giving audiences a clear way to spot the ultimate moviegoing setups.
