A new trailer for HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series has been released, giving fans a much closer look at Harry’s first year at Hogwarts ahead of the show’s Christmas 2026 premiere.
The latest footage focuses more heavily on Hogwarts after the first teaser introduced Harry’s life with the Dursleys and his journey into the wizarding world. Dominic McLaughlin returns as Harry Potter, alongside Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

The trailer includes several major scenes from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, including the Sorting Ceremony, Harry playing Quidditch and his discovery of the Mirror of Erised. Viewers also get another look at the Hogwarts castle, classrooms and the friendships that begin forming during Harry’s first year.

Another important moment introduces Professor Quirinus Quirrell, played by Luke Thallon, complete with the character’s familiar purple turban. The footage also teases the dungeon troll sequence and Harry receiving his invisibility cloak, suggesting the first season will cover several memorable moments from the original book.
The eight-episode first season is officially titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. John Lithgow plays Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer stars as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu plays Severus Snape, and Nick Frost takes on the role of Rubeus Hagrid.
HBO plans to premiere Harry Potter during Christmas 2026, with the series streaming on HBO Max in supported markets. Francesca Gardiner serves as writer and executive producer, while Mark Mylod will direct multiple episodes.
