The ten-year jump carries Lanterns from the 2016 Rushville disaster to 2026. During the missing decade, John Stewart abandoned the Green Lantern path and built a security company with his brother, while Hal Jordan served ten years in prison and returned to a town that still blamed him for its losses.
Episode 6 does not fill every year with flashbacks. It explains the gap through changed relationships, new work and the way survivors speak about the past. The result is a timeline defined less by adventure than by consequences that nobody managed to repair.

John builds a life without the ring
John turned his experience with extraordinary threats into a civilian plan. He and Marcus design high-grade panic rooms, and John pitches Midway City on underground football stadiums capable of sheltering thousands. He acknowledges that he was Green Lantern for only five minutes, treating the role as something he deliberately refused.
His family life hardened as well. John now addresses his mother as Bernadette, signaling emotional distance, and she has to lie that Hal wants to apologize to bring him back to Rushville. His immediate drive there shows that anger, not indifference, has defined the missing years.
Hal serves time but finds no forgiveness
Hal spent the decade in prison for the destruction connected to Rushville. When John confronts him, Hal argues that he took the fall and served the time. John rejects that version because people died and the town remained damaged. Their exchange confirms punishment, but not repentance or reconciliation.
The town itself survived without moving on. Kerry Kane remains connected to the community, younger survivors are now adults and at least one resident sees Hal’s return as a chance to demand financial restitution. Hal is physically back, yet he has no restored place in Rushville.
Rushville and the Lantern role move on
Meanwhile, Guy Gardner became Earth’s active Green Lantern. The episode does not show every step in that appointment, but the outcome follows John’s refusal and Hal’s imprisonment. Guy has access to Oa and the authority to retrieve Hal’s decommissioned ring for the funeral. His arrival proves that the wider system continued operating even while John and Hal remained trapped by Rushville.
By the end, the missing decade collapses into one choice. John digs up Hal’s grave and activates the Halogram, bringing the Green Lantern past into the civilian future he tried to protect. Which part of those ten years should the final episodes explain next? Tell us in the comments.
