Her response is immediate and irreversible. Kerry turns and fires, killing the man she loves before he can act on what he knows. The twist explains why she later calls John back to Rushville. She wants the truth uncovered, but she cannot confess it directly until John reconstructs what happened.
John refuses to make Noah pay for Hal’s death
John first confronts Noah, who carries guilt and anger over the destruction linked to the Manhunters. He then brings the accusation to Kerry at the football game. Her confession confirms that Noah did not pull the trigger, despite the secrets surrounding his role in the larger disaster.
John’s important choice is not to execute Noah or surrender him automatically to the Corps. Hal’s death shows what fear can do when someone believes only one violent option remains. John chooses a different form of protection, accepting the risk of judgment rather than repeating Kerry’s decision.
Hal’s last copy passes the responsibility to John
The Halogram gives John one final connection to his mentor. When John’s ring needs to be recharged, Hal’s digital copy accepts that the process will erase him. That sacrifice completes the passing of the torch: Hal cannot return to repair his mistakes, but his memory can help John choose what kind of Lantern to become.
Hal is therefore definitively dead at the end of the season. Kerry’s confession solves the crime, while John’s response establishes a Green Lantern who will protect Earth on his own terms. Was John right to spare Noah and leave Kerry free? Share your view in the comments.
