Netflix Is Removing Classic Sitcom The Game in August 2026

Fans of The Game have limited time left to watch the series on Netflix in the US. After spending nearly six years on the platform, the first three seasons of the popular comedy-drama are scheduled to leave the streaming service in August 2026 as Netflix’s licensing agreement comes to an end.

When is The Game Leaving Netflix?

Netflix is currently showing a “Last day to watch” notice for The Game. Subscribers can stream Seasons 1 through 3 until August 14, 2026. The series will officially leave the platform on August 15, 2026.

End of an Era for Netflix’s Classic Black Sitcom Collection

The departure of The Game closes an important chapter for Netflix. In 2020, the platform added several beloved Black sitcoms through its Strong Black Lead initiative, including Moesha, Girlfriends, Sister, Sister, The Parkers, Half & Half, and One on One.

Most of those series left Netflix in 2023 after their licensing agreements expired. The Game remained available much longer, making it the final survivor from that memorable collection before its scheduled exit.

Why Only Three Seasons Were Available

Many viewers have wondered why Netflix never added Seasons 4 through 9. The answer comes down to streaming rights.

The first three seasons originally aired on The CW between 2006 and 2009. After the network canceled the show, BET revived it in 2011 and produced six additional seasons.

Netflix’s agreement only covered the original CW episodes. Since the later BET seasons were licensed separately, Netflix never had the rights to stream the complete series.

Where Can You Watch The Game Next?

At the moment, there is no confirmed streaming home for the series after it leaves Netflix. Since the show is owned by Paramount, many fans expect it to eventually return to Paramount+ or BET+, but no official announcement has been made. Until then, the series is mainly available through digital video-on-demand services.

If The Game has been on your watchlist, now is the time to finish it before the first three seasons disappear from Netflix in mid-August.
