Amisha survives the fall because the finale uses her apparent death as a false finish, then gives Jacob the choice to end the cycle of revenge without becoming a killer himself. Reacher throws Amisha from the building during the final fight, but she returns before she can finish him. Jacob shoots her, then refuses her taunt to use her own knife against her.
That decision is the emotional point of the ending. The finale’s immediate setup placed Jacob’s grief at the center of the unresolved threat. He has lost Anna and Ben to a conspiracy Amisha helped drive, so he has every reason to want immediate revenge. The episode lets him feel that temptation, then makes him choose custody and public accountability over the kind of private violence that has destroyed his family.

The fall looks like the end, but it is not
Amisha’s fall is staged as a momentary victory for Reacher. With Lila still fighting and the toxin still in play, the team has no time to confirm what happened below. That uncertainty is why her return works as a final threat rather than a continuity mistake: she has survived long enough to reach the injured Reacher when he is least able to defend himself.

Her return also separates her fate from Lila’s. Lila dies through the chemical weapon she tried to use. Amisha survives, which leaves the finale with a harder question than simple elimination: what should happen to someone who has caused enormous harm but can still be made to answer for it?
Jacob refuses the role Amisha wants him to play
When Jacob and Tamara arrive, Jacob shoots Amisha but does not kill her. She taunts him with the deaths of Anna and Ben, inviting him to turn grief into a final act of vengeance. He instead throws away the knife and has her arrested.
This is not presented as forgiveness. Jacob does not excuse her actions or minimize what was taken from him. He rejects the idea that justice must look like the cruelty used against his family. That refusal keeps him from becoming another person the conspiracy has reshaped through violence.
Arrest keeps the truth available to the public
Amisha alive is also strategically important. A dead antagonist can end a threat, but a surviving one can be connected to evidence, testimony and the larger operation. The finale gives Plum the drive so the story can reach the public; bringing Amisha into custody supports the same goal of preventing the facts from disappearing into an unofficial cleanup.
Jacob’s decision therefore changes more than his own conscience. It gives the case a path toward accountability instead of another sealed secret. The season began with a death that was made to look isolated. It ends with a survivor who can no longer keep the operation hidden.
