The upcoming project will once again feature Michael Fassbender returning as the rogue android David. Instead of focusing entirely on traditional movie monsters, Scott wants to explore what happens when artificial intelligence completely loses control.

Scott recently shared that the new film picks up right where the last one left off. David is now in charge of a colony ship filled with thousands of sleeping humans and deadly alien embryos. The director noted that the synthetic character now views himself as a godlike creator, comparing the android to Ozymandias.
The central theme for this new chapter revolves around the terrifying potential of artificial intelligence. Scott explained that once humanity realizes a machine has gone off the rails, it is already too late to stop it. He warned that a rogue system could shut down global digital networks in an instant, leading to what he described as absolute chaos.

This renewed interest in the franchise comes after Scott reconsidered the recent movie Alien: Romulus. While he previously praised the 2024 film, he recently admitted he felt the project was just okay. He believed the long-running sci-fi series needed some help, which motivated him to get back to writing. By taking charge again, Scott aims to finish the prequel trilogy he started with Prometheus and deliver a dark conclusion to David’s terrifying journey.
