Wakefield carries Henry’s story beyond the hospital
Wakefield’s role begins with contact. As a clergyman, he can enter a space closed to most outsiders and listen without immediately treating confession as a medical symptom. He does not solve the problem during the visit, but he ensures Henry’s account reaches someone else.
That makes him a bridge between private suffering and investigation. Henry’s story no longer exists only in a patient file. Once Wakefield repeats it, the claims about 1715 and the stones can be compared with knowledge held beyond the institution.
Mrs. Graham understands the impossible claim
Mrs. Graham is prepared for that comparison. Her understanding of local tradition and time travel allows her to hear pattern where the doctors hear delusion. She offers the possibility that Henry’s memories are evidence rather than an illness to erase.
Viewers of the wider story also know these names as part of the world surrounding Claire’s later life. The prequel uses them to show that the network of belief and historical research did not suddenly begin when Claire crossed the stones. Their earlier experience with Henry can explain why unusual testimony, old records and local ritual are treated seriously years later.
Their knowledge connects generations
Their involvement can protect more than Henry’s freedom. Treatment is already weakening his memories of Julia and young Claire. A credible outside intervention may be the only way to stop that loss before he forgets why returning matters.
They may also preserve records that shape the future. Notes about Henry, the stones or Julia could survive even if the family cannot reunite immediately, creating a link between the prequel’s events and what Claire eventually learns.
