Frankie Cooper is the new gangster Colin Tattersall approaches at the end of the MobLand Season 2 premiere. Played by Johnny Flynn, Frankie is being considered as Kat McAllister’s answer to Harry Da Souza: an operator who can attack the Harrigans with the same mixture of criminal access, nerve and practical violence that Harry uses to protect them.
The episode deliberately introduces Frankie late, so his full history and loyalties are not yet confirmed. What matters is the proposal behind the meeting. Tattersall believes Kat needs more than money or conventional muscle. She needs someone capable of thinking like the fixer who has repeatedly kept Conrad’s family alive.

Tattersall recruits a rival fixer
Tattersall reaches Frankie after offering Kat a plan to destroy the Harrigans from within. As a former senior detective, he brings knowledge of investigations and institutional weaknesses. Frankie would supply the street-level authority and unpredictability required to turn that knowledge into pressure.
Frankie is shown at a barbecue surrounded by younger men, suggesting an organization or following rather than a lone hired gun. His first words recognize Tattersall as a former police officer and order him to start talking. He is not intimidated by the approach and does not behave like an applicant.
Frankie enters with his own power base
That confidence distinguishes him from a simple assassin. Harry’s power comes from reading a room, negotiating between violent people and acting before a crisis reaches his employers. Frankie may become dangerous by performing the same function for Kat while refusing Harry’s informal rules.
The Harrigans are unusually exposed when he arrives. Conrad and Maeve have carried out a public massacre, Kevin is operating against his father, and Harry has been excluded from important decisions. Frankie does not need to defeat a united family; he only needs to widen fractures already visible.
Why Harry should take him seriously
The premiere leaves the Harrigans divided after the dog-track bloodbath. Conrad and Maeve act without Harry, Kevin makes his own moves, and Kat McAllister looks for pressure points. Every new character enters that unstable structure, which means loyalty matters less than who can exploit the family first.
Harry’s usual advantage is that he sees consequences before his employers do. Episode 1 weakens that advantage by keeping him outside the dog-track meeting and giving rivals time to organize. Episode 2 can test whether he still functions as the family’s center or has become one more player reacting to Conrad’s mistakes. That shift would give every rival more room to act, because the fixer can no longer promise that one conversation will restore order.
