Fujitsu on Monday took the wraps off its first Mac-compatible scanner. ScanSnap is a double-sided color PDF scanner with a 50-page automatic document feeder and Adobe Acrobat 7.0 software included. It was designed to quickly convert paper documents into PDF files at the touch of a button, scanning at speeds up to 15 pages per minute, depending on the dpi setting selected.
Other features of the ScanSnap include PDF thumbnail viewing, optical resolution up to 600dpi, automatic color detection, automatic blank page detection and deletion, automatic paper size detection and image de-skew, “always on” Fujitsu ScanSnap Manager software, sRGB technology that enhances the fidelity of color scans and USB 2.0 connectivity.
Pricing is US$495. As The Mac Observer posted this article, Fujitsu had not yet updated the ScanSnap product page with Macintosh specifications, although it did note in a statement that the scanner is compatible with Mac OS X v10.4 “Tiger.”
