Safe Eyes Mac Edition allows for complete control over online material with 35 different categories from which to choose, according to Shane Kenny, president of SafeBrowse.com, the company behind Safe Eyes. Separate filtering profiles can be created for each person using the computer, the company statement said.
The Mac and Windows editions can be used interchangeably. When a user logs in on a Mac or a PC, their settings follow them, making it unnecessary to reconfigure the software on either computer.
The product uses the N2H2 content filtering database to filter sites.
Shane Kenny, president of the company, said customer demand lead to the release of Safe Eyes for the Mac.
?Requests from Mac users are the reason we have released this product today,? he said. ?In the last six months, the requests for a Mac product have doubled. We took a good look at the market and found a real lack of products in this area, so we built a world-class filter for Mac users.?
Available for Mac OS X 10.4 and higher, Safe Eyes 2005 Mac Edition retails for US$49.95 and includes a 15-day trial version. The product has no additional monthly or annual fees.
