AirPods 5 have a full spec sheet, two prices at $129 and $149, and battery figures for every listening mode Apple tracks. What is missing, on any Apple page, is a talk-time figure, a per-device AppleCare+ price, a repair cost, and any carbon figure on the product page itself. This is the ledger of what remains unpublished for AirPods 5.
Pre-orders opened September 9, and AirPods 5 reach stores Friday, September 18. For the specs that are confirmed, see our AirPods 5 launch coverage.
What Apple has confirmed for AirPods 5
Apple’s specs page details the H2 chip, the sensor list, water resistance and battery hours for both the standard model and the Wireless Charging Case model down to the five-minute quick-charge figure.

The one battery figure Apple never states
Apple’s AirPods 5 specs page lists listening time with Active Noise Cancellation on and off, total time with the case, and a five-minute quick-charge figure, for both models. Talk time, the figure most AirPods buyers actually want for phone calls, is not listed on that page for either model, and does not appear on the product page or in the press release either.
This is not a new gap for AirPods 5 specifically. Apple’s own spec pages for AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 with ANC carry the same absence, listening hours and case totals with no talk-time row at all, so the omission is consistent across generations rather than something particular to this launch.
The AppleCare+ and repair gap
A per-device AppleCare+ price for AirPods 5 has not been published. Apple’s AppleCare pricing tables carry a row for AirPods 5, but the figure loads client-side and is not populated. AppleCare One at $19.99 a month and AppleCare One Family at $49.99 a month are the only coverage prices Apple has stated this week, and neither is specific to AirPods.
Out-of-warranty repair pricing sits in the same gap. Apple’s support library, which normally carries a repair cost for lost or damaged AirPods and cases, has no AirPods 5 entry yet.
The carbon page gap
Apple has published a Product Environmental Report for AirPods 5, as its own standalone PDF. The AirPods 5 product and specs pages state that the earbuds use 40 percent recycled material by weight and that manufacturing draws on 35 percent renewable electricity, but neither page carries an overall carbon figure in kilograms of CO2e. That number, if it appears at all, is in the PDF, not on the page Apple links from its Store.
Whether AirPods 5 carries a carbon-neutral designation, the way some past Apple Watch and case combinations have, is also not stated either way in the material Apple has published for this launch.
| Not published for AirPods 5 | Where it would normally appear |
|---|---|
| Talk time | Specs page (lists listening and case totals only) |
| Per-device AppleCare+ price | AppleCare pricing table (loads blank for AirPods 5) |
| Out-of-warranty repair price | Support library (no AirPods 5 entry yet) |
| Overall carbon figure on the product page | AirPods 5 product page (figure, if any, sits only in the PER PDF) |
| Carbon-neutral status, stated either way | Product page or PER PDF (neither confirms nor rules it out) |
What Apple has not said
Apple has not said why talk time is absent from a spec sheet that lists every other battery figure, when the AppleCare+ price will populate, or when a repair-pricing page will name AirPods 5. Each of these is a gap in what has been published so far, not a feature Apple has ruled out. Our coverage of AirPods 5 before the keynote and the full event recap track how much of the picture has already filled in.
AirPods 5 reach stores Friday, September 18. Anyone who relies on AirPods for calls, or who wants a repair estimate before buying, should expect Apple’s own specs and support pages, not this ledger, to carry the missing figures once they are published.
