Anthropic has started rolling out a new voice feature inside Claude Code. The update lets developers interact with the coding assistant using voice instead of typing. Users activate the feature by holding the space bar, speaking their command, and then releasing the key to send the input. This change moves coding tools closer to real-time voice interaction, where developers can describe tasks instead of writing prompts.
The feature is part of Anthropic’s effort to make coding workflows faster and more natural. Voice mode allows developers to speak instructions while they work inside Claude Code. Once the user releases the space bar, Claude processes the spoken input and returns a response. This approach removes some friction from the prompt process and keeps developers focused on their work.
Gradual rollout for Claude Code users
Anthropic has started the rollout slowly. Around 5 percent of users have access to voice mode right now. The company plans to expand availability in phases. Users on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans will receive the feature as the rollout continues. Anthropic also confirmed that voice mode does not require an additional payment.
Earlier this week, Anthropic introduced another update to Claude by enabling memory import. The company also made that feature free for all users. Memory import helps Claude recall context from previous conversations, which improves continuity across tasks.
Claude has also gained attention outside development tools. The Claude app recently became the most downloaded iPhone app over the weekend. It climbed from the 42nd position earlier this year.
Apple has also moved closer to Anthropic’s technology. The company now allows Claude Agent to integrate with Xcode, which gives developers another way to bring Claude into their coding workflow.
