Apple is expanding CarPlay in a meaningful way. Three widely used iPhone apps have now arrived on the dashboard interface, bringing AI, meetings, and music into the driving experience.
The update follows iOS 26.4, which adds support for new app categories, such as voice-based conversational tools. As a result, apps such as ChatGPT, Google Meet, and Audiomack now appear directly in CarPlay after you update them on your iPhone.

#1 ChatGPT brings voice-based AI to CarPlay
ChatGPT is one of the biggest additions. It works entirely through voice, which fits Apple’s safety rules for in-car use.
You can:
- Talk to ChatGPT in real time
- View titles of past conversations
- Continue ongoing chats
The system does not display text or images. Apple keeps interactions audio-only to reduce distractions while driving.
This marks the first time a full AI chatbot is available inside CarPlay, enabled by iOS 26.4’s support for conversational apps.
#2 Google Meet adds meetings on the go
Google Meet is now part of CarPlay as well, but with strict limits.
Here’s what you get:
- Join meetings with a single tap
- See your upcoming schedule
- Take part in audio calls
Video is disabled inside CarPlay. You only get audio to keep the focus on driving. This setup works like a hands-free conference call through your car speakers, which is useful for quick check-ins while commuting.
#3 Audiomack expands music options
Audiomack is the third app joining CarPlay. It focuses on music streaming, especially independent artists.
Inside CarPlay, it includes:
- Discover new tracks
- Charts and curated playlists
- Your personal library
The interface follows Apple’s standard music layout, so it feels similar to other streaming apps.
#4 WhatsApp upgrade is coming next
WhatsApp is already available on CarPlay, but it currently relies on Siri for basic actions. That is changing soon.
The new version in testing will add:
- A list of recent chats
- Call history
- Favorite contacts section
This update will make messaging more direct without depending fully on voice commands.
Wrap-Up
CarPlay is finally getting fresh third-party support after a slow period. Apple’s push with iOS 26.4 is opening the platform to new types of apps, especially AI tools.
For users, the change is simple. Update your iPhone and apps, connect to CarPlay, and these features appear automatically.
This update turns CarPlay into more than navigation and music. It now handles conversations, meetings, and discovery in a way that fits everyday driving.
