Apple is precise about China mainland when it wants to be. Its feature availability page carries a China mainland exception for five Apple Intelligence features, and a footnote in the iPhone 18 Pro press release adds a sixth, yet Siri AI is not one of them. Apple has published nothing at all about whether Siri AI will work in China when iOS 27 arrives on Monday, September 14.
That is not a gap we can fill. Apple names China in the launch country lists for both new iPhones, it names China mainland repeatedly when a feature is restricted there, and on Siri AI specifically it has published no date, no partial rollout, no condition and no acknowledgement. The absence is the fact.

The China mainland exceptions Apple does publish
Apple keeps a feature availability page for iOS 27 that lists, feature by feature, the countries and languages each one supports. Five entries there carry a China mainland exception, and the press release adds one more.

Apple Reference Image is the one Apple explains, and it is the only place in the launch material where Apple links a China restriction to regulatory requirements. It is also a feature Apple built for the iPhone 18 Pro camera, storing an untouched original with verification metadata alongside edits.
China is named in both iPhone launch lists
Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro press release names China in the same sentence as Australia, Brazil, Canada and Colombia, for pre-orders at 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12 and availability on Friday, September 18. Twenty more countries follow on Friday, September 25.
The iPhone Duo release does the same for its more than 70 countries and regions, with pre-orders on Friday, October 16 and sales from Friday, October 23, then 28 more countries on Friday, October 30. Both phones run Apple Intelligence on the A20 Pro chip, and both ship into China on Apple’s published schedule.
The only region Apple names for Siri AI is the EU
Siri AI has exactly one regional carve-out in Apple’s launch material, and it is European. Footnote 3 of the iPhone 18 Pro release says Siri AI will not be available initially in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, that features relying on it are out too, and that Apple is “working hard to find a path forward that preserves its users’ privacy and security.”
Nothing equivalent exists for China. The nearest wording on Apple’s product pages is the generic line that some features may not be available in all regions or languages, which names nothing and nobody. Everything Apple said on stage is in our event recap, and Siri AI in China was not part of it.

iOS 27 ships free on Monday, September 14, and iPhone 18 Pro pre-orders open at 5 a.m. PT on Saturday, September 12 in a list of countries that includes China. Anything about Siri AI in China beyond that remains unpublished, and we will report it when Apple states it.
