It looks like Apple is getting ready to release a brand new personal computer that will not break the bank. According to MyDrivers (via Kursiv), the company is planning to launch a highly affordable compact desktop called the Mac Neo. This small machine aims to solve current supply shortages while giving budget-conscious buyers a much cheaper way to join the computer ecosystem.

It is expected to cost only around $299, making it half the price of a standard model.

The small computer uses phone parts to keep costs down

To reach that low price tag, Apple plans to build the Mac Neo with a colorful plastic shell instead of the usual heavy metal. This design choice makes the computer look fun and similar to the current iMac models, but it keeps manufacturing costs very low.

The machine itself will be incredibly small. Reports say it will be about the same size as a small TV streaming box. It will feature two basic connection ports on the back to hook up your screens and accessories.

Inside the plastic case, the desktop will run on the same processor built for the newest mobile phones. It will also include 12 gigabytes of memory. It’ll also be an affordable alternative to the MacBook Neo, which is currently in limited supply.

While this setup cannot handle heavy professional video editing, it offers plenty of power for everyday activities like surfing the web, typing documents, and watching videos. By using mobile parts, the company can produce these cheap computers quickly and offer a great option for light daily use.

  • Lets hope it has more than two ports and its available in three colors like the mac book. An Apple TV Pro Plus Max would be good too that can have a browser and digital audio outputs for high res music.
