Apple Now Has More Than 2.5 Billion Active Devices Worldwide

Apple has crossed a major milestone. The company now has more than 2.5 billion active devices in use across the world, which shows how deeply its products have spread across daily life. This number includes iPhones, Macs, iPads, Apple Watches, and other devices that people still use.

At the same time, Apple just reported its best quarterly earnings ever, and strong iPhone demand played a big role in pushing both revenue and the device count higher.

CNBC reported the update as part of Apple’s latest earnings release, where Tim Cook shared details about the company’s growing user base and the scale of its ecosystem.

“We are also excited to announce that our installed base now has more than 2.5 billion active devices, which is a testament to incredible customer satisfaction for the very best products and services in the world.”

A fast-growing global install base

Apple had 2.35 billion active devices in the same quarter last year. That means the company added about 150 million active devices over the past 12 months. This growth rate matches what Apple achieved the year before, which shows that demand stays strong even at this massive scale.

Here is how the numbers stack up:

  • 2024: 2.2 billion active devices
  • 2025: 2.35 billion active devices
  • 2026: 2.5 billion active devices

This steady rise shows that more people continue to buy new Apple hardware and keep using it year after year.

“2.5 billion devices”

This number does more than highlight hardware sales. It also shows how large Apple’s market has become for software and services. Every active device gives Apple another chance to sell subscriptions and apps.

Apple earns recurring revenue from services such as:

  • Apple Music
  • iCloud+ storage
  • Apple TV+
  • The Apple Creator Studio bundle with Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, and Pixelmator Pro

As the install base grows, this services business gets larger and more stable. More devices mean more people paying every month.

iPhone demand keeps pushing Apple higher

The iPhone continues to lead this growth. Apple said demand for its flagship phone stayed extremely strong during the latest quarter, which helped drive both revenue and the rising device count.

Tim Cook described the momentum: “Demand for iPhone [this quarter] was just simply staggering.”

Milestone with long-term impact

Reaching 2.5 billion active devices marks one of the biggest moments in Apple’s history. It shows that the company does not rely only on selling new hardware each year. Instead, it now runs one of the largest technology ecosystems in the world, built on billions of devices that people use every day.

As Apple keeps adding around 150 million active devices each year, its reach, influence, and services revenue keep growing right alongside it.
