Apple has released the first iOS 27.2 developer beta for iPhone, just two days after iOS 27 became available to everyone. The exact build number has not yet surfaced in the available release information at the time of publication.
Interestingly, Apple has moved directly to iOS 27.2 beta testing without first releasing an iOS 27.1 developer beta. iOS 27.1 is expected to focus heavily on software support for the upcoming iPhone Duo, which launches in October.
The first iOS 27.2 beta is currently available to registered developers. As with any early beta, you may encounter bugs, battery drain, app compatibility problems, or other stability issues.

How to update
If your Apple Account is registered for developer beta access, follow these steps:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Tap General.
- Select Software Update.
- Tap Beta Updates.
- Select iOS 27 Developer Beta.
- Return to the Software Update screen.
- Tap Download and Install when iOS 27.2 beta appears.
Make sure your iPhone has enough free storage and back up important data before installing the beta.
All changes in iOS 27.2 beta 1
Apple has only just released the first beta, and confirmed user-facing changes are still being discovered. Here is what we know so far:
- iOS 27.2 begins Apple’s next general iPhone beta cycle after the public release of iOS 27.
- Apple has skipped iOS 27.1 in the current developer beta rollout. That version is being prepared around the iPhone Duo and its dual-display software features.
- Expanded Siri AI language support is expected in October, including French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish. iOS 27.2 is one possible update for those languages, although their inclusion in beta 1 has not yet been confirmed.
- A redesigned Health app experience is also planned for a future update and could appear during the iOS 27.2 beta cycle. Its availability in this first beta has not yet been confirmed.
- Apple could also restore two Apple Intelligence features removed before the public iOS 27 release: suggestions based on Messages conversations and an AI feature designed to automatically fix compromised or weak passwords. Neither has been confirmed in beta 1 yet.
More interface changes, bug fixes, and smaller improvements should become clear as the first beta is tested on compatible iPhones.
