Right on schedule, Apple just released the sixth beta of tvOS 27 for registered developers to test out. This new update arrives a week after it seeded the previous version, giving developers another chance to look around. Anyone in the developer program can download this latest build right now to see how it runs and get their apps ready before the final public release drops this fall.

Developers can grab the latest software from the settings app

To install this new build on your Apple TV, you need to turn on beta updates first. You will need to make sure the device is linked to an Apple ID that has a valid developer account. Here is how to get the software on your device:

  • Open the Settings app on your Apple TV.
  • Go into the System menu.
  • Click on Software Updates.
  • Choose the developer beta option to download the build.

This sixth release follows closely behind when it pushed out the fifth developer update. As it gets closer to a final version, the focus shifts toward fixing bugs and making the Apple TV software more stable instead of adding big new changes.

If you are currently running the new tvOS 27 platform, keep an eye out for general performance improvements. Beta software can sometimes be a bit unpredictable. Because of this, it is usually a good idea to report any issues you spot so everything runs well when it launches to the public in a few weeks.
