Apple has released a new AT&T carrier settings update for iPhone 18 Pro Max users running the iOS 27.2 beta, extending changes that recently reached devices on the public iOS 27 release. The update moves affected beta devices to carrier bundle version 72.0.3.

The release follows reports of a cellular issue affecting a small number of iPhone 18 Pro Max devices on AT&T, where users suddenly lost access to calls, text messages, and cellular data. In affected cases, the iPhone displayed “SOS” in the status bar and could no longer connect normally to the carrier network.

AT&T carrier bundle reaches iOS 27.2 beta

Apple released a separate carrier settings update last week alongside iOS 27.0.1, which moved AT&T devices on iOS 27.0 to carrier bundle version 72.1. Apple said the changes were designed to prevent the cellular problem from affecting additional iPhone 18 Pro Max units.

However, devices already affected by the issue still require a hardware replacement, according to Apple.

Users testing the iOS 27.2 beta had remained on carrier bundle version 72.0.2, so they did not receive the same carrier-side changes included with the earlier update.

Aaron Perris spotted the new rollout on X, with iPhone 18 Pro Max devices running the iOS 27.2 beta now receiving version 72.0.3.

Issue appears limited to iPhone 18 Pro Max

Reports of the cellular problem first appeared in late September and have so far focused on the iPhone 18 Pro Max on AT&T.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max uses a Qualcomm modem in the United States, while the iPhone 18 Pro uses Apple’s C2 modem and has not been affected by the same cellular issue.

The latest carrier bundle update should bring Apple’s recent AT&T network changes to users who are currently testing iOS 27.2.
