What happens in The Dance
Apple’s synopsis for episode 6 reads: “Wyatt asks Kai to the school dance, where Matthew and Woody try to play it cool as chaperones.”
That is the whole official description. Wyatt is Matthew’s son, who went on his first hunting trip with his dad back in episode 2, according to Apple’s synopsis for “The Hunt.” Apple’s stills for episode 6 show McConaughey and Harrelson together, plus Nolan Almeida, Oona Yaffe and Skyler Gisondo.
It comes a week after episode 5, “Valentine’s Day,” where Apple says “things quickly spiral out of control for Matthew and Woody after forgetting Valentine’s Day.” Our Brothers episode 5 recap walks through that episode.

What Brothers is about
In Apple’s description, McConaughey and Harrelson’s “lifelong friendship is thrown into chaos when they uncover a decades-old secret: they might actually be brothers.”
After Woody’s daughter’s wedding falls apart, he loads up the family and heads to Austin for an extended stay at Matthew’s ranch. Matthew’s mother, Ma Mac, played by Holland Taylor, then lets slip the long-buried secret. Apple says that as Woody turns the ranch upside down looking for the truth, Matthew is dealing with a different identity crisis: a potential run for Governor of Texas.
The weekly synopses have followed both threads. In episode 3, “When Ma Mac wants the Harrelsons out, Woody hatches a harebrained plan to buy time.” In episode 4, the pair “put their musical talents to the test as Olive’s investigation ramps up.”
Brothers cast
Alongside Harrelson and McConaughey, Apple’s press release lists:
- Natalie Martinez
- Brittany Ishibashi
- Nolan Almeida
- Ella Grace Helton
- Noah Carganilla
- Highdee Kuan
- Oona Yaffe
- Holland Taylor as Ma Mac
We looked at Taylor’s role in more detail in our piece on who plays Matthew McConaughey’s mother.
