OpenAI recently launched a helpful shopping tool that lets you see how clothes look before you buy them. The latest update to ChatGPT allows users to virtually try on clothing using their own uploaded photos. This addition brings an established retail trick directly to the widely used chatbot. People can now easily visualize how a specific jacket or a new shirt might fit their personal style.

Users can upload a picture to preview new outfit styles

When you ask the chatbot for clothing recommendations, a new try-on button will appear next to the suggested items. Clicking this button prompts you to take a selfie or upload a full-body picture from your gallery.

The tool uses a new image model called ChatGPT Images 2.5 to map the clothes onto your body. This upgraded system delivers better lighting and realistic textures while keeping your original physical features intact.

You do not have to stick with what the bot suggests. You can paste a web link to a specific coat or upload a picture of an outfit you like. The artificial intelligence will then find similar products you can purchase and show you how they look on your body.

The platform stores your reference images for future shopping trips

To make things easier, the system saves your uploaded pictures so you do not have to provide them every time you want to try something on. If you prefer to clear your data, you can delete these reference photos in the personalization section of the settings menu.

The company also added folders and a favorites list. This allows you to keep track of the clothing items you want to buy later.

While the AI produces realistic pictures, the company warns that it cannot predict true sizing. Shoppers should still check merchant measurements and return policies before spending their money. The virtual dressing room simply offers a helpful visual guide rather than a perfect fit guarantee.
