Apple TV is bringing back its thriller “Imperfect Women” for a second season built around Kerry Washington’s character, Eleanor, and set on Martha’s Vineyard. Apple announced the renewal on October 5, 2026, and said the new season will be based on an original idea rather than the source novel.

Apple has not given a premiere date, a filming schedule or an episode count for season two. Here is what it has confirmed.

What Imperfect Women season 2 is about

Season one adapted Araminta Hall’s novel of the same name, which Apple says “examines a crime that shatters the lives” of three women bound by a friendship of decades. The first season covered that story, so season two needed somewhere new to go.

According to Apple, Eleanor “returns to her hometown roots in the affluent black enclave of Martha’s Vineyard.” Once there, Apple says, she finds that beneath its idyllic surface lie “secrets and scandals that threaten to upend everything she thought she knew about her past.”

Apple calls it “a compelling new chapter” and says the show is back “by popular demand.” It still describes the series as a limited series.

Who is returning

Washington reprises her role as Eleanor and serves as executive producer alongside Elisabeth Moss, who starred opposite her in season one. Apple has not announced any other returning or new cast members.

Creator Annie Weisman is also back. She will co-showrun season two with Justin Hillian, whose credits include “The Chi” and “Snowfall.” Apple says Weisman and Hillian will create, co-showrun and executive produce the new season.

What Kerry Washington and Apple said

In Apple’s announcement, Washington said: “We were thrilled to see how deeply these women and their stories resonated with audiences around the world, and I’m so excited to step back into Eleanor’s shoes.”

She added: “She’s intelligent and strong, but she also finds herself navigating complicated and sometimes messy situations. We at Simpson Street, along with our incredible partners at Apple and Love & Squalor Pictures, can’t wait to explore a fresh chapter for her and share where this story takes us next.”

Matt Cherniss, Apple TV’s head of programming, said: “After a wildly entertaining first season, driven by the performances of Kerry, Lizzie and Kate, we jumped at the opportunity to expand the world of ‘Imperfect Women’ through Kerry’s fan-favorite character of Eleanor.”

Cherniss also said: “Annie and Justin’s thrilling new story felt like an exciting and natural next chapter. We can’t wait for fans to experience it.”
