Instagram Now Lets You Edit Your Comments After Posting Them

Instagram Says “No Breach” After Suspicious Login Warnings

We have all been in the situation of leaving a comment on a photo and immediately spotting a glaring typo right after hitting the send button. Before this update, your only real option was to delete the entire message and type it all out again from scratch. Fortunately, Instagram just rolled out a highly requested feature that finally solves this problem for its massive user base.

How the new edit window works

Instagram announced that users now have a fifteen-minute window to change their comments once they go live. If you spot a mistake or want to tone down what you wrote, you can simply tap the edit button and fix the text. You no longer have to delete the post entirely. Once you make a change, the app will display a small label indicating that the comment was modified.

Unlike some other messaging tools that show a complete history of every change, Instagram decided to keep its system completely private. Anyone looking at the thread will see the edited tag, but they will not be able to view your original text.

The company is offering this helpful update to everyone for free, keeping it entirely separate from the new paid subscription features it has been testing recently.
