Apple’s iOS 27.2 update introduces a new Suggested Actions feature in Messages, allowing iPhone users to create notes, open locations in Maps, track flights and packages, and manage reminders directly from their conversations. The feature uses Apple Intelligence to recognize relevant information in messages and display one-tap shortcuts without requiring users to switch between apps.
The feature arrives with the iOS 27.2 public release, which Apple rolled out on October 26. Apple originally tested Suggested Actions during the iOS 27 beta cycle before removing it ahead of the September release.
How Suggested Actions Work in iOS 27.2
Suggested Actions analyze the context of incoming messages and display relevant shortcuts beneath them. For example, when someone shares a meeting time, Messages can suggest creating a Calendar event, while a message containing an address can provide a shortcut to Maps.

Apple explains that Messages and Mail use conversation context to offer quick actions, including creating calendar events and finding relevant photos.
The feature supports five customizable categories:
- Add to Calendar: Create events from dates, appointments, and plans mentioned in conversations.
- Add to Reminders: Turn requests and tasks into reminders.
- Add to Notes: Save useful information from messages.
- Show in Maps: Open addresses and locations directly in Apple Maps.
- Flights and Packages: Access relevant flight information and package-tracking details.
These shortcuts appear when Messages identifies actionable information, reducing the need to copy details manually into another application.
How to Customize Suggested Actions in Messages
Apple also provides individual controls for each suggestion category, allowing users to choose which shortcuts appear in their conversations.
To customize them:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and select Apps.
- Tap Messages.
- Select Suggested Actions.
- Enable or disable the five available suggestion categories.
All five categories are enabled by default, although users can turn off individual options without affecting the others.
Which iPhones Support Suggested Actions?
Suggested Actions require Apple Intelligence, meaning the feature works on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and compatible iPhone 16 and newer models.
Although iOS 27 supports older iPhones, devices without Apple Intelligence support cannot use these context-aware suggestions.
Apple currently lists the feature as available in English, including English (India), English (US), and English (UK).
Developers can also use Apple’s Suggested Actions framework to provide similar shortcuts in messaging apps, with Apple confirming that the framework analyzes message content on-device to protect user privacy.
