iOS 27.2 developer beta 1 expands Dual Capture to Group FaceTime calls. The feature lets a caller share video from the iPhone’s front and rear cameras at the same time, which can make a group call more useful when the person speaking also needs to show a room, an object, or a live demonstration.
Dual Capture was previously limited to one-to-one FaceTime calls. Its arrival in Group FaceTime matters because that is where a second camera view can be practical for remote troubleshooting, classes, family calls, and collaborative work. Apple’s Group FaceTime guide confirms that calls can include up to 32 participants, though the company has not yet published separate public instructions for the new beta control.
What Dual Capture changes
- Two points of view in one call: the caller can remain visible while showing what is in front of the iPhone.
- A better fit for demonstrations: a rear-camera view can show a recipe, repair, project, or event without removing the speaker from the conversation.
- A beta-only change for now: iOS 27.2 is currently a developer beta, so the exact interface and availability can change before a wider release.
Apple has not announced a public release date for iOS 27.2. If the feature survives the beta cycle, it should make Group FaceTime more capable without changing how participants start or join a call. Testers should expect the option to depend on the iPhone model, camera permissions, connection quality, and the current beta build.
