iOS 27 is free starting Monday, September 14, but two features Apple names on its own iOS 27 page are not part of that release. Messages Suggestions and the security alerts in Passwords are both marked, in Apple’s own words, coming in a future software update, with no date attached to either.
A third clock runs alongside them. Siri AI does ship Monday, but only in English, with five more languages arriving in October and still under a beta label the whole time.
Key facts: what ships Monday and what does not
| Feature | Apple’s stated status | Date attached |
|---|---|---|
| Siri AI (English) | Beta, ships with iOS 27 | Monday, September 14 |
| Siri AI (French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish) | Beta, still to come | October, no day given |
| Messages Suggestions | “Coming in a future software update” | None published |
| Passwords security alerts and auto-upgrade | “Coming in a future software update” | None published |
| Apple Watch Live Rewind and Siri Recap | Beta, later in 2026 | None published beyond “later in 2026” |
The two features Apple has already delayed
Apple’s iOS 27 page describes Messages Suggestions as a feature that will “offer suggestions to help you take quick actions based on context,” such as adding a calendar event or finding a photo, then adds the same qualifier used for Passwords: coming in a future software update. Passwords gets a parallel line, that it “alerts you to weak or compromised passwords and can update them,” also without a release attached. Neither feature appears anywhere else in Apple’s iOS 27 release material with a firmer timeline, and neither was demonstrated on stage when Apple detailed the iPhone 18 Pro and the rest of its September lineup.

Siri AI’s own two-stage rollout
Siri AI is in beta across iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27 and visionOS 27. Apple’s language is specific: available in English to start, with French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support coming in October. That is a dated commitment, unlike the two Messages and Passwords items above, but it is still a month away from Monday and still beta the entire time. Apple Intelligence itself covers 16 languages overall, a wider list than Siri AI’s launch languages, and Siri AI is not available to users under 13.
A slower clock on the Apple Watch side
Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 gain a new Audio Intelligence category on Monday, but only two of its four features actually work that day. Sound Recognition and Music Recognition with Shazam are available now, tied to an iPhone 11 or later. Live Rewind and Siri Recap need an iPhone 16 or newer and launch in beta later in 2026, English only, United States first. That single support document is one of the clearest examples of a dated-later feature Apple has published this cycle, and it sits on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 pages, not the iPhone ones.
Why none of this shows up in a features list
Apple’s marketing pages list Messages Suggestions and Passwords alerts alongside features that genuinely ship Monday, with the delay noted only in the line of text beneath each one. A reader skimming the September 9 announcement or the feature grid on apple.com/ios/ would reasonably assume everything listed is available the same day, and for most of the page that is true. These two items, plus Siri AI’s non-English rollout, are the exceptions. Apple used the identical phrase, coming in a future software update, for both Messages Suggestions and Passwords, which is the strongest signal available that neither one was fully ready for the September 14 build even though Apple named and described each one months in advance.
What Apple has not said
- Any date, even a month, for Messages Suggestions or the Passwords security alerts.
- A specific day in October for the five additional Siri AI languages.
- A firmer date than “later in 2026” for Live Rewind and Siri Recap.
- Whether Messages Suggestions or Passwords alerts will require an Apple Intelligence-enabled device once they do arrive.
iOS 27 ships Monday, September 14, 2026. Check Apple’s iOS 27 page after that date for any change in wording on these two undated features, since Apple has a pattern of updating that language once a fix or feature actually lands in a point release.
