iOS 27 arrives on Monday, September 14 as a free update for iPhone 11 and later plus iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). Apple has published exactly one page about it, at apple.com/os/ios/, and not a single Apple Support document: no “About iOS 27 Updates” article, no security content page, and no revision to the instructions that tell you how to install it.
That is unusual only in how visible it is. Apple’s marketing pages went up on September 9 alongside the iPhone 18 Pro announcement, while the support library that people actually reach when something goes wrong is still written against iOS 26.

The one page Apple has published, and the two links that do not work
Apple’s iOS 27 page carries the release in five words, “iOS 27 available starting 9.14,” followed by the compatibility list, the feature sections and the footnotes. It sits at the /os/ path.

Both of the URL patterns Apple used for previous previews, apple.com/ios/ios-27/ and apple.com/ios/ios-27-preview/, return HTTP 404. If you have an older bookmark or a link from a preview article, it is dead, and apple.com/ios/ now redirects to the /os/ path instead.
The page is marketing, not documentation. It states the date, the device list, the language list, and the caveats that Siri AI is in beta, is rolling out in English, and is subject to daily usage limits. It does not tell you how long the update takes, how much space it needs, or what hour it lands.
What is missing from Apple’s support library
Apple’s security releases index was last dated September 8, the day before the event, and its newest rows are iOS 26.6.2 and iPadOS 26.6.2. There is no iOS 27 row, and Apple explains why in its own standing line: it does not disclose, discuss or confirm security issues until an investigation has occurred and patches or releases are generally available.
The rest of the library is dated rather than absent, which matters more on a day when people are following steps.

The iPhone manuals index is in the same position. It lists the iPhone 17 family and iPhone Air as the newest models, with no entry yet for iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max or the iPhone Duo.
Why a stale document is a day-one problem
Apple’s update article is the one that carries the actual sequence, and its order is worth following because it puts two steps before you ever open Settings: back up the device using iCloud or your computer, then plug it into power and connect to Wi-Fi. Only then does it say Settings, General, Software Update, Download and Install.
Because that article was written for iOS 26, the labels and paths in it may move when iOS 27 ships. The useful lines in it are version-neutral: apps can be temporarily removed to make room and Apple says they are automatically reinstalled after installation, and VPN or proxy connections might prevent a device from contacting the update servers.
Two other articles do not go stale, because they carry no version numbers at all. The won’t-update article holds the four alert strings Apple covers and its own delete-the-download fix. The progress-bar article carries Apple’s clearest sentence on waiting: the bar may move slowly or appear static, and duration varies with the number of files and the type of operation.
What to expect Apple to publish on Monday
Three things normally appear with a release and do not exist yet: a security content page for iOS 27, an “About iOS 27 Updates” page listing what each version changes, and revised screenshots in the update and storage articles. Apple has promised none of them in writing.

iOS 27 is due on Monday, September 14, free, for iPhone 11 and later and iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). Until it ships, Apple’s own instructions for installing it are the December 2025 versions, and the only Apple page that mentions iOS 27 by name is the marketing page at the /os/ path.
