The iPhone 18 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra have faced the same mechanical drop rig in a new durability comparison. Repeated falls onto concrete show that neither expensive flagship is immune to cracked glass, chipped frames, or camera damage.
PhoneBuff’s video test uses controlled back, corner, and face drops rather than casual hand drops. That makes the impacts easier to compare, although one sample of each phone cannot predict how every device will land or survive in everyday use.
The useful part of this kind of test is not a simple winner label. Different surfaces fail differently. A phone may keep its display working while its rear glass breaks, or protect the back while taking more visible damage around the frame and camera rings. Cases, screen protectors, impact angle, and concrete texture can change the outcome.

What a drop test can tell buyers
A repeatable rig can expose relative weak points and show whether touch input, cameras, and displays still operate after severe impacts. It cannot establish a formal survival rating. Apple and Samsung do not warranty accidental drop damage under their standard limited warranties.

Anyone buying either phone should treat the video as a stress demonstration, not a promise. A protective case and accidental-damage coverage remain more useful than assuming a flagship will survive the same fall shown online.
The phones in the video were unprotected. Real buyers often add cases that change how force travels through the frame and glass. Previous wear or microscopic damage can also make two apparently identical drops produce different results. Neither premium phone is sold as completely drop-proof.
