iPhone 18 Pro Max Won’t Get Thicker After All, Says Report

A new leak suggests Apple will keep the same design thickness for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, despite earlier reports claiming the device would become larger and heavier. According to recent information, the upcoming flagship will measure 8.75mm thick, which is identical to the current iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Ice Universe shared the latest claim on Weibo and said Apple’s main development efforts are currently focused on its rumored foldable iPhone, which has limited major design changes for the Pro lineup.

Same Thickness, But Weight Could Still Increase

The new report contradicts earlier claims that the iPhone 18 Pro Max would be thicker than its predecessor. While the device may retain the same 8.75mm profile, that does not rule out a weight increase because internal hardware upgrades can still add extra mass.

Instant Digital previously claimed the iPhone 18 Pro Max would weigh more than 240 grams, potentially making it the heaviest iPhone Apple has released.

Digital Chat Station previously reported that Apple plans to equip the iPhone 18 Pro Max with a battery capacity between 5,100mAh and 5,200mAh. That would be a small increase over the 5,088mAh battery found in the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Apple may achieve this upgrade by redesigning internal components rather than increasing the phone’s thickness.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also expected to keep its 6.9-inch display while gaining a smaller Dynamic Island, a next-generation C2 modem, a simplified Camera Control system, and a new variable aperture main camera. Apple is expected to unveil the device in September alongside its rumored foldable iPhone.
