The iPhone 18 Pro weighs 211 grams, or 7.44 ounces, on Apple’s tech specs page, which makes it the heaviest 6.1-inch or 6.3-inch Pro iPhone Apple has published a figure for. It carries 24 grams more than the 187 gram iPhone 15 Pro, the model that introduced the titanium frame in 2023.
The longer arc is stranger than a single number suggests. In five years the small Pro has been built from stainless steel, then titanium, then an aluminum unibody, and it has gained weight in each of the last three generations rather than losing it.

Five generations of the small Pro, weighed
Every figure below is Apple’s own, taken from the tech specs page for each phone. The thickness column is the one that moves in only one direction.

- iPhone 14 Pro: 206 g, 147.5 x 71.5 x 7.85 mm, stainless steel
- iPhone 15 Pro: 187 g, 146.6 x 70.6 x 8.25 mm, titanium

- iPhone 18 Pro: 211 g, 150.0 x 71.9 x 8.75 mm, aluminum unibody with a Ceramic Shield back
Read down that list and the titanium switch is the only time the small Pro got lighter. The iPhone 15 Pro shed 19 grams against the iPhone 14 Pro, and the three phones since have put 24 grams back on. The frame has also grown 1.1 mm thicker since the iPhone 13 Pro, from 7.65 mm to 8.75 mm.
Identical dimensions, one changed line
The iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro share published dimensions exactly: 150.0 x 71.9 x 8.75 mm on both spec sheets. The Pro Max pair match too, at 163.4 x 78.0 x 8.75 mm.
So on Apple’s own numbers the only physical line that changed this year is weight, by 5 grams on the 6.3-inch model and 16 grams on the 6.9-inch. Apple has published no explanation for either figure, and we are not going to attribute it to a component it never named.
The Pro Max has gained more
| Model | Weight | Dimensions | Frame |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 13 Pro Max | 240 g | 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.65 mm | Stainless steel |
| iPhone 14 Pro Max | 240 g | 160.7 x 77.6 x 7.85 mm | Stainless steel |
| iPhone 15 Pro Max | 221 g | 159.9 x 76.7 x 8.25 mm | Titanium |
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | 227 g | 163.0 x 77.6 x 8.25 mm | Titanium |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | 233 g | 163.4 x 78.0 x 8.75 mm | Aluminium unibody |
| iPhone 18 Pro Max | 249 g | 163.4 x 78.0 x 8.75 mm | Aluminium unibody |
At 249 grams the iPhone 18 Pro Max is 28 grams heavier than the titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max and 9 grams heavier than the stainless steel iPhone 13 Pro Max. It is the heaviest iPhone Apple has published a weight for apart from iPhone Duo at 254 grams, which our iPhone Duo against iPhone 18 Pro Max comparison sets out line by line.
The 38 gram gap between the two new Pro models is larger than any single year-to-year change in the line, so if weight decides your size our Pro against Pro Max guide is the better place to start than the year-on-year figures.
What the extra grams buy, on Apple’s numbers
Apple does not connect weight to any feature, but it does publish battery ratings alongside it. The iPhone 18 Pro is rated for up to 24 hours of typical use, 36 hours of video playback and 33 hours of streamed video, against 33 hours of video playback on the iPhone 17 Pro and 23 hours on the iPhone 15 Pro.
That is the clearest thing the heavier small Pro has to show for itself, and our iPhone 18 Pro battery guide explains how Apple arrives at each of those three figures. Aperture, storage ceiling and chip all changed this year as well, none of them with a published gram cost.
What Apple has not said
Apple has not published a component breakdown for the 5 gram increase, a battery capacity in milliamp hours for any of these phones, or any statement about which part of the aluminum unibody is heavier than last year’s. It has also never explained on a product page why the titanium era ended after two generations.
