Apple charges $79 for the iPhone Duo Case and $129 for the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand. The cases it has priced for the iPhone 18 Pro run from $49 to $59, which makes dressing the fold cost between 1.3 and 2.6 times as much as dressing the Pro, on our arithmetic on published figures.
That gap matters more than it looks, because a case is the one ownership cost almost every buyer pays and the one Apple has actually priced. Nothing carries over between the two phones either: a folding 5.2 mm body and a 8.75 mm slab do not share a case, so a buyer moving from one to the other starts the accessory bill again.

The cheapest way to cover each phone
For the iPhone 18 Pro the floor is $49, for either the Clear Case or the Silicone Case. For the iPhone Duo the floor is the $79 case, because Apple has priced nothing cheaper for it. That is $30 more, or 61 percent more, on our arithmetic.
Step up to the most expensive option Apple lists for each phone and the gap widens. The TechWoven Case at $59 is the top published iPhone 18 Pro case. The Duo Folio at $129 is $70 more than that, and 2.63 times the $49 Pro floor.
Nothing in the accessory list crosses between them
Apple’s tech specs put the iPhone 18 Pro at 71.9 by 150.0 by 8.75 mm and 211 g, and the Duo at 5.2 mm open, 11.3 mm closed and 254 g. Two different shapes mean two different accessory lines, and the published lists confirm it: the wallet and both straps appear for the Pro only.
For a household that owns one of each, that is two case purchases rather than one, and for anyone upgrading from a Pro to a Duo in October it is a second $79 or $129 on top of the phone. Apple has never published a compatibility note between the two lines, and it does not need to.
As a share of the phone, the fold is not the expensive one
Divide each accessory by the phone it fits and the ranking flips. The Duo starts at $1,999 and the iPhone 18 Pro at $1,199, so the same dollars land differently. The percentages below are ours.

The $79 Duo case is the cheapest protection in the table as a proportion of the phone it protects, at 3.95 percent. The folio is the outlier at 6.45 percent, and it is the only accessory Apple has priced above $100 for either phone. Against the $700 the Duo already adds over an iPhone 18 Pro Max, a $50 difference between case and folio is small, which is exactly why it is easy to skip past at checkout.
What has not been confirmed
- Apple has priced two Duo accessories. It has published no wallet, wrist strap or crossbody strap price for the Duo, and no price for a Duo screen protector.
- Apple has published no dimensions, materials or drop-protection claim for either the Duo Case or the Duo Folio.
- Apple has published no repair price for the iPhone 18 Pro or iPhone Duo, so the sum a case is meant to avoid is still unknown.
- Per-device AppleCare+ prices for both phones remain unpublished, which leaves the other half of the protection decision blank.
The iPhone 18 Pro goes up for pre-order today, Saturday, September 12 at 5 a.m. Pacific and reaches stores on Friday, September 18, with cases orderable alongside it. iPhone Duo pre-orders follow on Friday, October 16 for an October 23 launch, so the $79 and $129 decisions are six weeks away.
