Apple’s new iPhone Duo uses two batteries, and iOS 27.1 appears to give owners unusually detailed information about how each cell is aging. Battery Settings can show separate health data for Battery 1 and Battery 2, including maximum capacity and cycle count, according to screenshots shared after Apple’s September event.
Apple officially confirms that the Duo uses two built-in rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, an iPhone first, although its published technical specifications do not currently document the separate Battery Health interface. The company describes the system as an intelligent dual-battery architecture designed to use the available internal space efficiently.

iPhone Duo can track both batteries individually
The reported Battery Health page provides separate information for each battery rather than combining both cells into one overall health figure.

That level of detail should make long-term battery degradation easier to diagnose. If one cell loses capacity faster or accumulates considerably more cycles, users and technicians can see the imbalance directly instead of relying on one combined percentage.
Apple has not explained whether its repair process will allow technicians to replace one Duo battery independently. Our earlier iPhone Duo battery breakdown also noted that Apple has yet to publish the capacity or rated cycle life of either cell.
Apple uses both batteries to power the Duo
Apple rates iPhone Duo for:
- Up to 24 hours of typical use
- Up to 44 hours of video playback on the outer display
- Up to 31 hours on the inner display
- Around 50% charge in 20 minutes with a compatible 60W or higher wired adapter
With two batteries aging inside a foldable chassis, separate health readings give Duo owners a much clearer picture of battery condition than a single combined percentage.
