Live Nation Drives iTunes Concert Information

iTunes 10 users can keep on top of what their favorite bands and artists are up to, see when and where concerts will be, and purchase tickets to events in the application.

“We are thrilled to power the concert listings feature on iTunes and deliver this new and simple way for millions of iTunes users to purchase concert tickets at Livenation.com and Ticketmaster.com,” commented Live Nation Entertainment President and CEO, Michael Rapino. “Our partnership with Apple is a key part of our strategy to empower fans with the greatest access to live entertainment.”

iTunes 10 also includes a new music-related social networking service called Ping. The service, according to CEO Steve Jobs, is “like Facebook and Twitter meet iTunes,” and is designed to help make it easier for fans to interact with their favorite bands as well as see what their friends are listening to.

iTunes 10 will be available as a free download for Mac and Windows users some time on Wednesday.
