Apple sells the MacBook Neo for $599, which means the company had to reduce costs in several areas, and the display sits near the top of that list. However, users recently discovered a simple setting that improves the screen’s color quality without any hardware change. When you enable this option, the laptop begins showing images in a wider color range, which makes photos and videos look more vibrant during everyday use.
Content creator @ZONEofTECH shared the discovery and showed that the MacBook Neo includes a hidden color profile option inside the display settings. Apple never promoted this feature publicly, yet the system allows users to switch to the Display P3 color profile with only a few clicks.
MacBook Neo display P3 setting
You can enable the wider color profile in a few steps:
- Open System Settings on your MacBook Neo
- Select Display from the menu
- Look for Colour Profile
- Choose Display P3 from the list
After you enable this setting, the MacBook Neo displays images using a wider color gamut, although it still does not reach the same level of full P3 coverage seen on the M5 MacBook Air or MacBook Pro.
This setting does not turn the MacBook Neo into a professional editing machine, yet it improves image quality enough for regular users who watch videos, browse photos, or edit casual content. Apple likely avoided highlighting the feature because the Neo targets budget buyers, while creative professionals usually choose higher-end MacBook models.
