macOS 26.2 public beta 3 is now available, here is everything new

macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 1 now available for developers

Apple released macOS Tahoe 26.2 beta 3 for developers yesterday, and the same build is now rolling out to public beta testers. The version number is 26.2 and the build is 25C5048a.

This update builds on the major changes that arrived with macOS Tahoe 26. The earlier update brought a new look, more personalization options, and improvements to Apple Intelligence. macOS 26.2 focuses on polish, stability, and a few helpful additions.

The biggest feature in this cycle is Edge Light. It is a virtual ring light that brightens your face during video calls by lighting up the edges of the screen.

How to update to macOS 26.2 public beta 3

Always back up your Mac before installing beta software. Beta builds can cause bugs or app issues.

  1. Enroll your Apple ID in the Apple Beta Software Program.
  2. Open System Settings on your Mac.
  3. Go to General and then Software Update.
  4. Select the “i” icon next to Beta Updates.
  5. Choose “macOS Tahoe 26 Public Beta”.
  6. Install macOS 26.2 when it appears.

What is new in macOS 26.2 public beta 3

Beta 3 does not bring a new major feature. Apple is using this build to fix bugs and improve stability across the system. You will notice smoother performance rather than visible changes.

  • Edge Light for video calls: The display border lights up softly during calls. It brightens your face, adapts to the room, and supports tone adjustments. It works in calling apps and stays out of the way of menus.
  • Performance improvements for newer Macs: macOS 26.2 includes updates for machine learning workloads. Newer Apple Silicon machines see better performance with training tools and connected setups.
  • General refinements: This update improves the Liquid Glass interface, Spotlight behavior, and Apple Intelligence features. These changes aim to make the system feel more responsive.

If you install macOS 26.2 public beta 3, check how Edge Light performs during calls and watch for any bugs. Let us know in the comments.
