Apple has released macOS Tahoe 26.4 Release Candidate for developers and public beta testers, and the update brings six confirmed changes for Mac users. This is the final testing build before the wider public rollout, so it gives us a clear look at what Apple plans to ship in the next stable update.
The new version adds useful upgrades across Safari, Freeform, Reminders, Family Sharing, subtitles, and the emoji keyboard. Apple also says macOS 26.4 includes eight new emoji, which adds a small but noticeable refresh to the overall experience on Mac.
According to Apple’s official release notes, these are the confirmed additions in macOS Tahoe 26.4:
- 8 new emoji including an orca, trombone, landslide, ballet dancer, and distorted face are available in the emoji keyboard
- Compact tab bar option in Safari gives you more space to browse and lets you search directly from the active tab
- Freeform gains advanced image creation and editing tools, and a premium content library, joining Apple Creator Studio
- Mark reminders as urgent with a keyboard shortcut, and filter for urgent reminders in your Smart Lists
- Purchase Sharing lets adult members in Family Sharing groups use their own payment method when making purchases, without relying on the family organizer
- Subtitle and caption settings are easier to find when viewing media, with real-time preview available directly from the captions icon
Now that Apple has seeded the Release Candidate, macOS Tahoe 26.4 looks close to a public launch. Based on Apple’s usual rollout pattern, the update should arrive for all users as soon as next week.
